4 Easy Morning Health Shots To Try Now

Anti-inflammatory and good for your gut

A healthy day starts with a good morning routine, and there’s really no better way to start your day than with a shot of the good stuff. Easy to make and take, plus really good for you, here are four of our favourites. Top tip? If you’re constantly on the go, make it on a Sunday evening and store in the fridge to save time.

 

TO TAKE DOWN INFLAMMATION:

Ginger + Cayenne

  • 15ml juiced ginger
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • Pinch of cayenne
  • 250mls hot water - or to your liking

    This simple classic is a great anti-inflammatory, pro-circulatory shot to get your systems firing in the morning. Cayenne is very strong, so start with a tiny pinch and add from there. In addition to its benefits for inflammation, ginger is also prokinetic for the gut, which can help encourage movement.

 

FOR GUT HEALTH:

Soothing Flax Water

  • 1 tbsp flaxseeds
  • 1 tsp cold pressed flaxseed oil
  • 200mls water
  • Juice of ½ lemon

    If your gut needs some extra help, this is the one. Whole soaked flaxseeds can help promote movement in the gut, whilst flaxseed oil is nourishing and lubricating. Add the water to seeds and let them sit for at least 30 minutes, or overnight. Add lemon and oil before drinking.

 

FOR ENERGY: 

Matcha + Cinnamon

  • ½ tsp of Matcha powder
  • ½ tsp of cinnamon
  • 20ml of coconut water or filtered water
  • Combine all the ingredients until smooth.

    This shot is packed with antioxidants, particularly catechins, which are potent compounds known to fight free radicals in the body. The most abundant catechin found in the matcha is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which has been linked to cancer prevention, reduced inflammation, and improved heart health. It contains L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation. The combination of caffeine and L-theanine promotes alertness and cognitive performance while keeping the mind calm and focused, whilst Cinnamon helps support blood sugar for stable energy levels.

FOR OVERALL WELLBEING:

Wheatgrass + Ginger

  • 1 tsp organic wheatgrass powder
  • 1/2 tsp of fresh grated ginger, preferably organic
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 50mls water
  • Add to a high-speed blender and mix until smooth.

    Wheatgrass is alkaline, which means it helps reduce acidity and supports pH in the body.. The high chlorophyll content helps increase oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood, which inturn, can improve circulation, support energy levels, and reduce fatigue. Finally, it supports detoxification pathways in the liver and aids toxin removal. With all of the benefits of fresh ginger, this shot is also wonderful for the gut and boasts an impressive antioxidant profile.
