When should I start taking Core Pregnancy?

We recommend starting Core Pregnancy+ from your second trimester and beyond. Core Pregnancy+ is designed to support you throughout each stage of your pregnancy and post natal journey.

Why do you have iron in your pregnancy formula but not in your prenatal?

Iron requirements start to increase from the second trimester onwards, blanket Iron supplementation is not recommended, and can have undesirable effects for individuals who are prone to accumulating Iron, which is why it's not included in Core Prenatal+. We’ve used Iron Bisglycinate, which is not only better absorbed than other forms of Iron on the market, but also has far better tolerability.

Is it third party tested?

Yes - all of our products regularly third-party tested, with accredited Labs, for all vitamins, minerals, and contaminants to ensure label claims are accurate. Stated simply, we test to ensure our products contain what the nutrition label says they do.

Can I keep taking this after I give birth?

Yes! This is designed to support you during and after pregnancy. It contains key nutrients to support healing after birth and breastfeeding – including iron, B complex vitamins, choline, vitamin D, zinc, and other antioxidants.

We recommend remaining on your prenatal for at least 3 months after giving birth and12 months if you are breastfeeding to help support breast milk nutrient quality and replenish stores in your body.

I'm already taking Folic Acid, do i need to continue?

Core Pregnancy+ contains 800mcg of the active form of Folic Acid, Folate (as 5-MTHF). You should not need take extra Folic Acid, unless otherwise advised by your doctor.

What is 5-MTHF and why do you use it?

Folate as 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) is the biologically active form of folate your cells actually use. We use this over the synthetic version - Folic Acid - which takes multiple steps to convert to the active form of folate in the body. Some people have common genetic variants that can reduce efficiency of converting folic acid into 5-MTHF, so using 5-MTHF can be a practical way to ensure the active form is available regardless of conversion efficiency.

Why do you not have calcium in your formula?

Contrary to popular belief, Calcium requirements don't increase during pregnancy. Instead, our body undergoes an adaptation that allows us to absorb Calcium more efficiently, which is one of the many reasons it is not in our formula. Blanket Calcium supplementation is not recommended for everyone. Instead, it’s preferable to get your Calcium needs from food. If you have a difficult time getting Calcium from your diet, consult with a Nutritionist, Dietician or Naturopath who can help you modify your nutrition and/or recommend the safest, most gentle form of Calcium for your needs.
